DK Shivakumar said the newly-elected state government will be focusing on elevating the ease of living and industrial development
Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expresses the focus of the newly-elected state government on improving the ease of living for private industries to develop Bengaluru. He emphasizes his commitment to the development of Bengaluru, citing his background as an agriculturist, businessman, educationist, and politician.
Shivakumar highlights Bengaluru’s significance on the global stage, stating that world leaders now often visit Bengaluru before other cities in India. He also mentions the strengths of Karnataka, including its human resources, weather, culture, healthcare, and the knowledge capital of Bengaluru. He particularly notes the large number of medical colleges in the state, which produce a significant number of doctors.
The Deputy Chief Minister acknowledges the challenges faced by Bengaluru, such as its rapidly growing population and the increasing number of vehicles. He admits that the city lacks proper planning compared to other cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chandigarh. Shivakumar states that he has already started discussions with legislators and members of parliament representing Bengaluru to address these issues.
Shivakumar emphasizes the importance of industry captains and their contribution to the city’s economy. He acknowledges that while the government can create a certain number of jobs, the industries are responsible for generating a much larger number of employment opportunities. He aims to ensure the safety, happiness, and comfort of the industry leaders and reduce their commuting time.
DK Shivakumar was sworn into office on May 21 and is considered instrumental in the Congress party’s victory over the BJP in the assembly polls.
