MUMBAI: Vietnam is fast catching up as a favorite destination among Indians and the latest airline to launch flights is Air India. The airline on Wednesday announced the launch of flights from Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City on June 01.
Air India will operate the flight five times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The airline said it will serve the route with its two-class configured Airbus A320neo aircraft.The flight is scheduled to depart Delhi at 1:15 pm and will land at Ho Chi Minh City at 7:55 pm, while the return will depart at 8.55 pm and land in Delhi at 30 minutes past midnight.
“The new route will further strengthen Air India’s network of destinations in Southeast Asia, offer a new flight option to an increasing number of travellers between India and Vietnam, and open new connections for Vietnamese travellers to access Air India’s global route network. The new service will also enable convenient one-stop connections to Vietnam via Delhi for travellers from the U.S., Canada, UK, and Europe,” the airline said.
Air India flies non-stop between India and four points in Southeast Asia, namely Singapore, Bangkok and Phuket (Thailand), and Yangon (Myanmar). Currently, Vietnamese carriers Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines operate Delhi to Ho Chi Minh flights.
Lpw cost carrier Vietjet’s entry into the Indian market, post COVID, has made the destination popular with travellers looking for economical deals.
According to Vietjet, 82,066 Indians travelled in the first 10 months of 2022 to Vietnam. The most in-demand destinations by Indians include Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Dalat, and Halong.
